Co‑operatives North East
Co‑operatives North East has been established to promote and represent co‑operative enterprises in North East England (County Durham, Northumberland, Tees Valley and Tyne & Wear).
Its services include:
- Representation of the co‑operative sector in the region
- Promotion and access to co‑operative models of practice for ethical businesses and community based organisations
- Extending knowledge and understanding of the work of co‑operatives, their values and principles
- Online statistical information and co‑operative directory
- Access to and delivery of co‑operative related training
- Email bulletins to inform the co‑operative sector of news and opportunities
- Periodic meetings and events to engage and raise the profile of co‑operatives
- Links with other regional co‑operative councils, Co‑operatives UK and the Co‑operative Group
- Promotion of Co‑operatives UK events including Co‑operative Congress and joint events. Access to their co‑operative registration service, legal advice and other services (actively promoting these and putting people in touch)
- Organising events, such as My Dream Home, an event about co-housing and co-operative housing; Fast Food, Slow Food focusing on food co-operatives from growth through to consumption; and a financial inclusion event
